… As CCII President-General, Ajewole Affirms Making Lagelu’s Grave an Attractive Centre
The Adaba Oluyole Club of Ibadan, an affiliate club of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), on Sunday, held its 20th anniversary celebrations. The event, which was a 3-in-1 packaged programme, was Chairmaned by the Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige.
Declaring the event open, the Chairman of the Occasion, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige lauded the leadership of the Adaba Oluyole Club of Ibadan for keeping the flag flying. According to him, “Today, I am here to celebrate with the leaders and members of the Adaba Oluyole Club of Ibadan on your 20th anniversary. I am particularly delighted about the sustainance of our common heritage – Ibadanland by this great club. This is a club with a vision made up of men of timbers and calibres with a common goal. I congratulate you and your spouses on this 20th anniversary celebrations. May the club continue to wax stronger and stronger by God’s grace.”

In his welcome address, the President of Adaba Oluyole Club of Ibadan, Alh. Wasiu Abiodun Ganiyu, FCA, appreciated God Almighty for the gift of lives for every club member, particularly on the grace of the club’s 20th anniversary. According to the renowned accountant, “Today we are gathered to celebrate a 3-in-1 programme that marks not just a significant chapter in our club’s history, but a remarkable moment for our entire community. It is a day for our AGM, marking our 20th anniversary of building bridges, uplifting lives and creating a home for camaraderie, service and shared purpose in this great city (Ibadan) we call home and honouring our patrons, outstanding indigenes and some members of the club who have distinguished themselves in various ways.” “As we reflect on our journey and recognise those who have walked paths of excellence, let us renew our commitment to the future, one that promises more unity, impact, and shared success. Welcome to the 3-in-1 celebration of Adaba Oluyole Club of Ibadan,” submitted the Club’s President.

Speaking at the event, the President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole lauded the President and members of the Adaba Oluyole Club of Ibadan for the support he enjoyed from the Club since he came in as the President-General. He used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s unwavering commitment to the realisation of the creation of Ibadan State. “I equally assure you all that the grave of Lagelu, the founder of Ibadan shall become a tourist centre in a few months from now,” stated the Aare Atunluse of Ibadanland.


The 3-in-1 programme witnessed the conferment of an award of excellence on individuals who have distinguished themselves in various capacities. These include the CCII President-General, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, former Rector, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Prof. Olatunde Fawole, Mogaji Lukman Kola Lanlehin, Dr. Owolabi Abass, Alh. Bello Kolawole Ghaffar, Alh. Kadri Akeem Kolawole, Chief Dr. Kolawole Ismail Badmus and Mr. Musibau Sesan Muhammed.
