Students of the Abiola Ajimobi University, Ibadan, Oyo State have commended the former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande for facilitating the Tertiary Institution Digital Centre (TIDC) for the institution during his tenure as Chairman of NCC.
The students in interviews with newsmen in the institution stated that the facility has enhanced learning and research in Nigeria’s first technical university which was named after the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who established the university.
The Tertiary Institution Digital Centers is a programme of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), a department of the NCC, which is in charge of extending digital service to unserved and underserved areas of the country.
The features of the TIDC deployed to Abiola Ajomobi University include:
i)50 desktop computers with core i5 processor with wireless card
ii) 50 desktop computer tables.
iii)50 desktop computer chairs, and
iv) One 15KVA Solar Power Solution with Inverter/charger.
v)16 300w Solar panels.
vi)16 inverter batteries.
vii) Internet access connectivity accessories.
The key objectives of the TIDC are to promote
– Personalized learning.
– Enhanced research.
– Better student-teacher engagement.
– Access to remote learning resources.
