As part of the ongoing Ibadan Festival Week celebration, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) on Thursday organised the 2024 Business Luncheon and Award Ceremony which had many successful entrepreneurs and high profile Ibadan business men and women in attendance with Dr. Fola Akinosun, the Agbaakin of Irokoland as Chairman of the occasion.
Dr Saheed Ige from LAUTech compered the Business Luncheon session which had highly successful and influential guest speakers like Dr. Mrs Aderonke Esther Adegbite, an associate Professor of Law from Lead City University; Mrs Bunmi Odumosu, CEO, Slayer’s Corner Ibadan; Dr Alfred Adeniyi Atiba, a capacity development and performance coach and Dr Oyenike Adeleke
Business Consultant and Motivational Speaker.

They delved deeply into the business discussion with the theme: Entrepreneurship in Ibadan, the Challenges, Prospects. According to the speakers, Ibadan is blessed with comparative advantage of good hospitability, high population, moderate cost of living and nearness to Lagos which should naturally promote good business. However improved low perseverance on business return, poor business acumen, bad power infrastructure, low accountability, stock and record keeping, youth apathy to apprenticeship which thus lowers labour force, better packaging of goods and services, as well as discipline and advertisement of goods were highlighted as key areas of improvement needed to make Ibadan more business friendly for entrepreneurs.

The award recipients include the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon Justice Iyabo Subulade Yeruma and Chief Mrs. Bolupe Aminat Aramide who both received the Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigene (MPII) from the CCII.

Alhaji Y K. Abass Babaloja-In-General and Mrs Olubunmi Adesanya JP Yeye Oba (Asewa) both received the Distinguished Business Leader Award (DBLA) for their excellent service and commitment to humanity.
