… As NCE Programme Graduates 21Year Set of 47,623 Students
Prof Olanrewaju Ademola Olaniyan, the Vice Chancellor of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education Oyo, has confirmed that the institution is fast regaining it’s old stature in Oyo town, as they have now become the most singular contributor to the economy of Oyo town with about #11.5B contribution since January to November 2025. He added that this will not be possible if the institution had not transitioned to a university.
Prof Olanrewaju Olaniyan confirmed this during the 3rd Foundation Day Ceremony on Tuesday held to celebrate and award NCE Certificates to eminent students who graduated between 2005 and 2025 where he also highlighted the giant strides made by the university management over the last three years which includes admission of about 9,620 students and with a clear vision to increase that figure to about 15,000 by the fifth foundation day ceremony.

“Emmanuel Alayande University of Education is probably the biggest and highest single institution contributing to the development of Oyo city and region today. Within the last one year only, the institution is estimated to have contributed about #11.5Billion into the economy of Oyo city, and about 2Billion to Nigeria as a country. The non-financial contributions to trade, socioeconomic development, religion and community development cannot be overemphasised. 40% by students, 46% by staff and the remaining 14 percent on other matters. The implication of that is that if the universities are not transited, then the economy of Oyo city will not be what it is today.”
Prof Olaniyan also delved on some of the challenges befacing the institution which surrounds funding he however gave immense praises to Governor Seyi Makinde for his huge support since the university too off with a takeover grant of #1B which the school have received part of it. He also acknowledged that the state government.

“The biggest challenge that everybody will have in this world is money, while I’m stating this funding challenges, I need to acknowledge the support that we have received from the state government. One of the best things that we have received from the state government was that immediately the university was announced, our governor announced a takeover of #1Billion, and we have received some of it. We also need funds to support some of the infrastructure, the state government are taking some of these offers by assisting in constructing the access road to the university and some part of the internal road repairs. The state government has also constructed the University Health Center.”
Prof Olanrewaju Olaniyan also highlighted the essence behind the convocation ceremony of the NCE graduates of the defunct College of Education which the institution management believes remains a debt that must be paid. “The university owes it a duty to sing “Nunc Dimittis” to signify closure to the great era of the College of Education for our institution. As a result, this Foundation Day ceremony is incorporating the award of NCE Certificates to graduates of 2005 – 2025 Sets.”
The programme saw the university graduating 47,623 students with NCE certificates in the last 21 years. It also mark the end of an era for the College of Education, and a beginning of a brand new one for the University.
