The Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo is set to award NCE certificates to 47,623 graduates of the institution from 2006 to 2025 graduation year, this will form part of the 3rd Foundation Day Ceremony aimed to celebrate the old college graduates and mark the inception of the University.

Prof Olanrewaju Ademola Olaniyan, the Vice Chancellor of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, made this statement on Monday during a press conference where he confirmed that the Emmanuel Alayande University was certified a University on December 16th, 2022 but the programs did not commence until the Institution was fully complemented with the management team on August 9th, 2023 after  approaching NUC for resource verification with 50 courses and later admitting 2,726 students.

Prof Olanrewaju Olaniyan confirmed that the University has admitted exactly 9,620 students since three (3) years of the foundation day and the 4-day program will be capped with a grand occasion with Engr Seyi Makinde, Senate Council members and Alaafin of Oyo as special guests.

“As a former College of Education, we are indebted to thousands of students who completed their program but did not enjoy the benefits of the graduation ceremony. We have old students from 2005 till 2025 who had never benefited from the graduation ceremony and if we do not celebrate them, it means we have deprived such graduates the opportunity of celebrating the completion of the NCE program. That’s 47,623 graduates for 21 years.” Prof Olanrewaju Olaniyan stated.

The University VC, Prof Olanrewaju Olaniyan also rated the institution as the most singular contributor to Oyo town economy with about #11.2Bn for the year 2025 only from January to December with Real Estate, Transportation and Commerce to mention a few. “In the last one year, if the university had not transited to a university, the economy of Oyo town will not be where it is today.”

Prof Olaniyan also listed some of the institution’s educational triumph and recorded successes in debates and public speaking competitions. He also highlighted some of the challenges bedevilling the institution with centered majorly on funding, welfare and infrastructures with special mention for a pedestrian bridge to aid safe movement of students across the highway.

“The Oyo-Ogbomosho Expressway represents a security issue for us as there is no pedestrian bridge and thousands of students cross the expressway everyday. We are using this opportunity to call on the federal government that on that road, especially at the point where our university is located, there should be a pedestrian bridge.” Prof Olaniyan added.
