In a day set aside to celebrate democracy in Nigeria, Engr Saheed Adeyemi Oladele (SAO), a stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and federal house of representative hopeful from Ibarapa Central/North federal constituency, has reminded Nigerians on the many giant strides and achievements recorded during the many intermittent spells of democracy in the country, he also beseeched all citizens to actively participate in democratic principles to achieve more together as a nation.
Engr Saheed Adeyemi stated this in his democracy message to Nigerians and people of Ibarapaland where he joined citizens to celebrate Democracy Day, while urging them to appreciate the depth of services and achievement that has befallen Nigeria as a nation during our democracy.
‘This is indeed a day to celebrate democracy in Nigeria, along with the many outstanding achievements and progress attained during our intermittent democratic spells. In our years of democracy as a nation, we have outrightly achieved immense successes and inherit excellent legacies that has made us enviable nations across the globe.” Engr SAO said.
“Needless to say, democracy has fast become our best system of government and our surest path to national glory which can be ascertained by numerous and unprecedented positive impact across all spheres of achieving economic prosperity.” he added
Engr Saheed Adeyemi also stated that “Our story of democracy in Nigeria cannot be completed without glorifying the many sacrifices by our past leaders, past soldiers and other distinguished citizens who have sacrificed their lives and properties for a legacy and sheer national value that we all aspire to build and develop further to create a better Nigeria for all citizens.”
Engr SAO thereafter charged fellow Ibarapa citizens to join in the struggle for a working and more productive democracy that promises freedom, equity and justice, a democracy that will guarantee security of lives and property whilst also soliciting for active participation in democratic rights that allows voting, freedom of expression and many others.
“In this same vein, I urge my fellow Ibarapa citizens to also join in this battle for a democracy that promises freedom, equity, justice and power to all citizens, a democracy that guarantees security of lives and properties, create empowerment through employment, enterpreneurship skills and capacity building. I also implored citizens to participate actively in democratic practices such as right of vote, right to freedom of expression, right to freedom of assembly and participation” Engr SAO added.
