FG to Impose Penalties as International Airlines Maintain Expensive Ticket Prices

The Federal Government has issued a warning to international airlines that do not adhere to the requirement of making discounted tickets available within a few weeks.

Last week in Abuja, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority convened with airline operators, the NCAA, international airlines, and the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, during which the instruction was given.

During the meeting, the international airlines committed to improving clarity in airfare pricing by introducing discounted tickets with limited availability, thereby making them more accessible to the middle-income group in Nigeria.

Subsequent to the Federal Government’s decision, a portion of the $700 million held air ticket funds for foreign airlines was released.
