The victims and residence of the Ibadan Circular Road has protested the inhumane treatment and demolitions from the hands of the governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde which has resulted in them demonstrating around Bustop Gate junction and the connecting roads linking Oje, Agodi Govt House and Idi-Ape.

According to some of the protestants on Wednesday, they testified that have all come out to express their displeasure at the way and manner the state government led by Gov Seyi Makinde has been visibly demolishing various homes around the corridor of the Ibadan Circular Road in Oyo State.

According to one of the protesters, Oloye Adedeji Hammed Lamolo, the Chairman of the Ibadan Circular Road Corridor (ICRC), he emphasised that the protest is not to targeted against the circular road project as they are not against modern development, he however added that Gov Seyi Makinde has unfairly treated the people with the 500m corridor extension plan which he plans to execute regardless of their begging and protests.

“We are not protesting against the Circular Road project as we regard it as a developmental project , but the government has been unfair with the 500m corridor extension after the road construction. More recently we called for dialogue and peaceful resolution but the government has been adamant on a proper civil engagement with the people’ Oloye Adedeji Hammed stated.

Oloye Lamolo confirmed that the demolition for the next phase of the 150m has begun and many lives have been lost in this struggle for survival, while adding that the governor plans to award the remaining 350m to the Estate Agents for reallocation and resale to new owners.

“All our resolutions with the various governmental agencies that we met with were discarded by the governor himself, saying that he will demolish to the 150m mark while the remaining 350m will be awarded to Estate Agents who will serve as the landlords and this development to this new protest against the government inhumane treatment.” He added.
