Three Bureau De Change agents in Kano sentenced to prison for conducting business without a license
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa of the Federal High Court in Kano found three illegal bureau de change operators guilty of operating without a proper license. They were subsequently sentenced to three years in prison.
The statement confirming the conviction was issued on Friday and signed by Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The individuals, Umar Ibrahim Muhammad, Abubakar Yakubu Garba, and Muhammad Tijjani, were sentenced to imprisonment after admitting guilt to individual charges of engaging in unauthorized foreign currency transactions without the necessary license.
