Justice Liman had however ordered that parties should maintain status ante.

The Court had also granted the respondents application for stay of proceedings pending hearing and determination of the case at the Court of Appeal and transfered the case to Federal High Court 3.

The court’s decision follows the actions of the Kano House of Assembly, which had repealed the law establishing additional emirate councils—Bichi, Rano, Karaye, and Gaya—under former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. The current governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, had implemented the repealed law to dethrone Ado Bayero and reinstall Sanusi.
