The Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, has been awarded as the Energy Personality Of The Year for his unwavering dedication and commitment to the growth and development of Nigeria’ Power Sector.
According to the official congratulatory statement and confirmation of award made available to newsmen, The Energy Times’ Board was particularly impressed with Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s performance as the Minister of Power.
The Energy Times’ Board affirmed Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s overwhelming improvement in power generation and supply which has witnessed an increase of over 6000MW capacity from a paltry 4,100MW which further highlights the stability on the national grid and power supply across the country.
According to their statement:
“Under your watch, there have been overwhelming noticeable improvements in power generation and supply across the country while the ongoing turnaround being witnessed in the nation’s commitment power sector is helping to further boost the nation’s economy. As a result of his unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s transmission network despite the many challenges, the management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has been on its toes, seeing to the stability of the national grid and stable power supply.
“When you assumed office, power generation was just about 4,100 MW and within a year, the capacity has increased by over 1000MW, now hovering over 6,000MW. The improvement in generation capacity was due to improvements in the operation of existing power plants and the commissioning of new ones.
“This boost was partly driven by efforts to ensure more efficient use of existing infrastructure and completion of some power projects,”
The Board applauds the Hon. Minister’s tenacity of purpose, brilliancy and quietness in breaking barriers that have constituted major hurdles to the sector.
