The German government called on Friday to continue “mediate efforts” with the military who took power by force in Niger to find a political outcome and avoid any armed intervention. These comments were made after the ECOWAS delegation failed to secure the return to power of the country’s elected government.
In a press conference by the spokesperson for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He said:
“It is important that we first leave room for mediation efforts and that these mediation efforts can be carried out, in the hope that a political solution will result,”
