Ogun: One Killed in Sagamu, As Cult Groups Clash Again

One person has been reportedly killed in a suspected cult clash in Sagamu Area of Ogun State late Friday just as the Ogun State Police Command vowed an investigation.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, on Saturday. The clash is coming barely two months after cult clashes claimed no fewer than eight lives in the same area of the State.

“The Ogun State Police Command has received a report of a suspected murder in Sagamu. According to the Sagamu Divisional Police Officer, on November 10, 2023, while on a vehicular patrol along Ewusi Street towards the Ita Oba roundabout, they intercepted information about a shooting incident.

The report stated that a group of unidentified gunmen on motorcycles shot and killed a young man whose identity is currently unknown.

“Upon receiving the information, the DPO immediately proceeded towards the location of the gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered the deceased lying in a pool of blood. The examination of the body revealed bullet wounds on the neck, stomach, and hand. Additionally, three expended cartridges were found at the scene. The Police disclosed further that an investigation has commenced to unravel the killing while noting that the body of the deceased has been deposited at a nearby morgue.

“The body of the deceased has been transported to a nearby morgue for further examination. No identification documents were found on the deceased, except for two large cowries.

“The Ogun State Commissioner of Police is aware of the incident and has personally arrived in Sagamu to oversee an open investigation into this tragic killing. The police are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case and to allay fears,” she concluded.
