A federal representative hopeful from Egbeda Ona-Ara Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Hon Oluwasegun Akinsanya (Kure) has felicitated with the Christian faithful on the commencement of the 40-day Lenten season, which he described as a period of total submission to the believe and faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hon Akinsanya made this statement during a congratulatory message which he made available to newsmen on Thursday where he described the 40-day fasting as that time for christians to engage in spiritual cleansing and forgiveness of sins.
“I celebrate my Christian faithful during this 40-day Lenten season. A period of total and unalloyed submission to the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, a direct replica of Jesus fast in the wilderness.
“There is no gainsaying that Lent is that time of the season for ‘Christ like Characters’ to engage in spiritual cleansing, forgiveness of sins while fasting, praying and giving alms/support to the needy and the vulnerable.” Akinsanya stated.
Hon Akinsanya also urged Christians to make good use of the fasting period to unite in prayers to foster peace, security and economic growth for our various Constituencies, State and Nigeria at large.
“I urge all Christians to also make good use of this fasting period to make deeper connection with God and unite in prayers to foster peace, security of lives and promote economic growth for our Federal Constituency, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.” Hon Akinsanya added.
