Only Gov Seyi Makinde, Prof Adeolu Akande Have Remembered Us for Good Since 1979 – Komu Monarch

The Oniro of Komu in Itesiwaju Local Government of Oyo State, Oba Jonathan Gboyega Awujoola, has noted that only the Governor of the State, Engr Seyi Makinde  and former Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission, Professor Adeolu Akande has remembered the community since the establishment of the only secondary school in the community in 1979.

The monarch made the declaration during the week at the activation of the telecommunication facility cited in the community by the Nigerian Commujication Commission and facilitated by its former Chairman, Prof Akande.The facility was constructed by the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), a department of the NCC saddled with the responsibility of extending telecommunication services to underserved areas in the country. The facility will enhance telecommunication services across all the communities in the area.

“Since 1999 that Komu – Baba Ode High School was created, the School has never witnessed any meaningful, physical development until Professor Adeolu Akande facilitated this ICT CENTER you are all seeing behind where we are seated now.” He facilitated this for our community when he was the Chairman of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

These are the same structures we have had since the day this school was founded. This Baba you are seeing is our community leader and he was among the first set of teachers that taught here, Kabiyesi stated.

“We Thank Governor Seyi Makinde, who in the last recruitment exercise posted 13 teachers to our high school. There were only 10 teachers serving the entire school before he posted additional 13 to the school. Please, if anyone here is privileged to see him, please thank him on our behalf”, he stated.

According to the report made available to the press, Professor Adeolu Akande facilitated this facility to the area to enhance communication in the area and promote emerging economic activities in the area which is hosting one of Nigeria’s foremost film villages, the KUNLE AFOLAYAN FILM VILLAGE (KAFV) and  vast mining sites. The film village has attracted tourists from across the world and Governor Seyi Makinde last month also promised to reconstruct the road leading to the film village.

The elated residents of the community who turned out in their hundreds commended the NCC for the gesture and promised to protect the facility to enhance social and economic activities in the area.
