Oyo: Alayande Varsity VC, ‘Lanre Olaniyan Receives OYSHIA Executive Secretary, Sola Akande

As part of the mandates of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, the Agency’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Sola Akande, on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan at his Erelu Office.

According to the institution’s Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye, Dr. Sola Akande appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the Management team for the institution’s full compliance on students insurance scheme as approved by His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE. According to the renowned Physician, “Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo stands out among other Oyo State tertiary institutions that are complying with the student health insurance policy approved by the Oyo State Government.

“As an agency, I am proud of your institution’s transparency and that’s why I have taken out time with my team to pay this courtesy visit.” Speaking further, the OYSHIA Chief maintained that “nobody prays for sickness, but it is incontrovertible that it will come anytime and unannounced. However, the benefits of the insurance policy are endless. I therefore urge staffers of the University to take advantage of the policy. I thank Mr. Vice-Chancellor and the Management team and wish you all the best”.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan welcomed the OYSHIA Chief into the university. “I am happy on behalf of the University Management to welcome you to our University. Our University started operations about two years ago. Health to us is key, hence our decision to enroll our pioneer students last year and now our new students. In all, we have over 5,000 students on the scheme. Our Management members would be enlisted on the scheme in few weeks from now while I am hopeful that some interested staff members would join your scheme soon too as health matter is personal.”

Speaking further, the Eruwa-born administrator used the occasion to appreciate the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE for graciously approving the construction of a standard hospital in the university. “This to us shows the premium His Excellency places on the health of staff and students of our institution. We shall continue to take advantage of this scheme offered by the Oyo State Government “, stated the renowned Economist.

The Vice-Chancellor was supported by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim O. Salawu, Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, and the Ag. Director, University Health Centre, Dr. Adetola Idowu Bolaji.

The OYSHIA Executive Secretary thereafter walked round the University Health Centre for facility assessment in company of the Ag. Director, University Health Centre, Dr. Adetola Idowu Bolaji, OYHISA Head, Marketing, Mr. Stephen Dauda and the University Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye. He used the occasion to laud the Olanrewaju Olaniyan-led-Management for putting up a standard health centre for the University community and promised his Agency’s support to upscale the University Health Facility.
