Residents of Ikoyi-Ile town in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State are reportedly gripped by fear following an alleged threat by suspected bandits to launch an attack on the community.
Ikoyi-Ile is within the same local government area where five people were recently killed in a violent attack at Oloka village, near the Old Oyo National Park.T
The letter reads:
“LATI ODO BANDIT
Ao wa ni January 20th, 2026
E duro de wa ati pe ki emura fun wale
A wa lati wa fun yin ni ibanuje in the orilede yin. Ni Ikoyi-ile Oyo State.
E mura le funma”.
On Tuesday, gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly opened fire at the park, killing five persons and heightening security concerns across the area.
According to emerging information, the suspected bandits have allegedly sent messages to residents of Ikoyi-Ile, warning that the town would be attacked on Tuesday, January 20.
The threat was said to be conveyed through two separate notes, purportedly written by the assailants, which have since circulated within the community, further escalating tension and anxiety among residents.
