The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Oyo State Directorate has urged matriculating students of Impact Polytechnic to embrace the challenges of academic excellence with courage, resilience, and determination.
Speaking as the guest lecturer at the maiden matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic, the Director NOA Oyo State, directorate Olukemi Afolayan Ph.D emphasized the importance of academic excellence in shaping the future of the students and the nation at large.
Dr. Afolayan identified various challenges that students may face in their pursuit of academic excellence, including time management difficulties, pressure from parents and teachers, financial constraints, mental health issues, and social pressures. She, however, assured the students that these challenges are surmountable with determination, diligence, and perseverance.
The NOA Director also highlighted the agency’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and good values among Nigerian youths. She affirmed NOA’s partnership with the Impact groups towards nation building citing examples of Ibadan Business Radio 92.5 FM weekly value reorientation program called COMPASS, aimed at instilling good values and attitudes among Nigerians.
Dr. Afolayan appealed to educators, policymakers, parents, and guardians to alleviate the challenges earlier mentioned. She encouraged the matriculants to assume personal responsibility, believe in their abilities, stay focused, and seek help when needed.
In conclusion, Dr. Afolayan urged the matriculating students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them at Impact Polytechnic to strive for excellence in all their endeavors as well as join other citizens to build a great nation.
Dignitaries at the matriculation included The Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade and the Chairman governing council of the Polytechnic Deacon Owolabi Oladejo, parents and families of the students.
