In a significant move to improve sanitation and safeguard public health, the Oyo State Government on Thursday inaugurated the Oyo State Task Group on Sanitation at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State Parliament Building Secretariat, Ibadan.
The event brought together high-level stakeholders, including government officials, local leaders, and international development partners such as UNICEF, to address pressing sanitation challenges and outline strategic steps toward achieving an Open Defecation-Free (ODF) Oyo State by 2028.

Mrs. Adewale, who ably represented the Director of National Orientation Agency Dr. Kemi Afolayan, while delivering her goodwill message expressed the agency’s full commitment to the initiative.
Other speakers highlighted the far-reaching impact of sanitation on education, nutrition, and overall community health, noting that poor sanitation contributes to health complications and reduced school attendance, particularly among children.

The mandate of the Oyo State task group on sanitation include: mobilizing the public and private sector funding for sanitation programs; driving advocacy and awareness campaigns within communities; and collaborating with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to establish sustainable sanitation frameworks.
