The Senate has confirmed Professor Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Amupitan, a professor of Law, was confirmed as the INEC boss during plenary in Abuja on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
In his message during screening at the National Assembly, Prof Amupitan appreciated President Bola Tinubu and the Council of State for his nomination.
“I want to thank the President (Tinubu) of the Federal Republic as well as the Council of State for nominating me for this very important task of service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
