Shun Protest, Be Patient With FG – Ayoade ARA Tells Youths

Hon. Ayoade Rasheed Adegboyega (ARA), on Tuesday 30th July 2024, cautioned the angry Nigerian youths to shun protest and be patient with President Bola Tinubu-led government.

The Director of Rural and Electrification Agency (REA) who doubles as chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) made this known in a press release sent to newsmen.

This came in the wake of the imminent protest tagged “DaysofRage” scheduled to start on August 1.

The angry youths have taken to social media to announce the imminent protest following the impact of the subsidy removal on petrol, which has caused a rapid hike in the prices of goods and services.

Part of the release read, “I am using this medium to plead with the youths to shun the protests and be patient with the Federal Government. President Tinubu’s government and his economic team are trying to ameliorate the hardship in the country. The government has started giving higher institution student loans, giving 50, 000 naira to nano business owners, making grants available for people, distributing a huge volume of palliative to all states, and making good policies for the homegrown economy while making the country a safe place for business for foreign companies, just to mention a few.”, he said.

However, ARA cautioned the youths to abandon the protest. He emphasized that it would lead to the destruction of lives and property.

“The memory of the EndSars Protest in 2020 is still with us. We cannot forget how some people destroyed multi-million naira facilities in the country. There is a lot of vandalization and destruction of lives and properties that are often associated with protests because hoodlums often hijack them. We do not want to experience a time when such a devastating event in 2020 will occur again. I am a Democrat and I know that civil demonstration is a right. Nonetheless, the tag of the imminent protest is DAYSOFRAGE, which indicates a very dangerous and anger-filled demonstration. The posts on social media platforms, it has shown that some people are ready to set our dear nation on fire. As a result, a lot of people and bodies have pulled out of the protest. Hence, I call on our youths to desist from protesting on August 1.”, he stated.

Hon. ARA noted that President Tinubu is capable of rescuing the country from its economic woes.

“I do not doubt President Bola Tinubu’s capacity. He has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that he can do it. He will revamp the economy. I am only urging angry Nigerians to be patient. There will soon be an economic upturn.”, he assured.
