The Royal Group Mourns Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin

Ibadan sociocultural group and affiliate club of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, The Royal Group (TRG) also known as Egbe Omo Oba Alade Ile Ibadan has expressed their deep sadness and heartfelt condolences to the Olakulehin family and the entire Ibadan Indigenes on the demise of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I who joined his ancestors after a brief illness.

This official statement was signed on Monday by the Club President, Prince Kamikun Akewula with the Executive Secretary, Prince Oluwatobi Adisa, and made available to pressmen by the Public Relations officer, Prince Ayodele Adeniran who in the message described the late Olubadan’s lifetime and reign as one filled with peace, breakthroughs and incredible achievements.

“It is with deep sadness that we the entire members of The Royal Group, also known as Egbe Omo Oba Alade Ile Ibadan, receive the news of the demise of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I who is more than a royal father to many of us but also an emblem of immense passion and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Ibadanland.

“I extend our heartfelt condolence to the Olakulehin family, the Olubadan-In-Council, the CCII and the entire indignes of Ibadanland on the demise of our revered monarch who has no doubt left an indelible imprint on the development of Ibadan, largely by fostering unity and maintaining peace as well as promoting Ibadan cultural heritage during his short time as Olubadan” the statement said.

“As an elder statesman before his demise, Oba Olakulehin was also an accomplished business man and through his massive impact in the political landscape as a former federal lawmaker, his influence was felt across all spheres that has rightly earned him deserved respect and wide acceptance as a proven monarch with capacity and integrity.

“May the Almighty God repose Olubadan soul and grant the family and Ibadan the strength to bear the huge loss” the statement concluded.
