Hon. Abiodun Ekolo is a seasoned politician whose watchword is clean politics. A towering figure in Oyo State politics, his distinguished pedigree has contributed significantly to his meteoric rise.
His political journey began on March 15, 1997, when he served as a councillor. During this time, his efforts in elevating his ward and the entire Ibadan South East to the epicenter of Oyo State politics were widely recognized and applauded.
Through sheer hard work and an unwavering passion for development, he ascended to the position of Local Government Chairman on December 17, 2007. History will attest that he successfully completed his tenure with notable achievements.
However, what followed was a dark stain on an otherwise impeccable record. In Hon. Ekolo’s own words:
“Whenever I reflect on the malicious rumors spread by negative-minded individuals shortly after my tenure, I find it deeply disheartening—a political narrative that weakens the soul.”
He continued, “Let me state for the first time that my alleged swearing-in as interim chairman and subsequent removal barely a week later were nothing but figments of imagination in a mendacious tale. If the peddlers of this falsehood were truthful, they would have boldly disclosed the supposed reason for my removal to substantiate their fabricated claims.”
“Another blatant lie from the pit of hell was the accusation that protesters labeled me as ‘maladministrative and high-handed. While it is undeniable that the inauguration of new council chiefs followed the expiration of our tenure, all other embellishments were merely attempts to ‘gild the lily.'”
Hon. Ekolo remains steadfast in his commitment to integrity and service, dismissing these allegations as baseless attempts to tarnish his reputation.
