Afeez-Adio Fires Back at Group Accusing Adelabu of Creating Band Supply in Electricity

Oyo State Coordinator and Chairman South West Coordinators for Next Level Forum, Prince Ashimiu Afeez Adio have expressed his utter disappointment on the recent statement by some former coordinators in the dissolved, Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, over some mischievous and false claims against the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu alleging him of balkanising the electricity consumption.

Prince Afeez-Adio made this briefing on Friday during a press statement made available to media outfits. He explained when NERC started the division in electricity consumption rate in 2020, this was before Adelabu assumed office as Minister of Power in 2023.

Full Statement:

“The recent press statement by some so called coordinators of the dissolved Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, alleging the Power Minister of discrimination in the power sector by categorizing electricity into bands have come as a huge shock to many who clearly have a deep understanding on the past and recent developments in the power sector.

“In 2020, the NERC as we recall started the Service Reflective Tariff for the Discos which was originally designed to reduce the effect of estimated billing and pricing among customers, whilst also reflecting the quality of service measured by the number of hours of supply to clusters of electricity consumers.

“So it leaves much to be desired when stakeholders dish out half-baked information to the public domain all in a futile effort to disparage the invaluable efforts of the Power Minister in rebuilding and stabilizing electricity in the country”

“Chief Adelabu is infact one of the most performing ministers in President Bola Tinubu, Renewed Hope Government. He is gradually overseeing an improved power sector with resolved debt issues for gas suppliers with Gencos which has generally resulted to improved power supply in the country.”
