Labour Unions: No Going Back on Planned Nationwide Strike

The organised Labour unions have confirmed that its nationwide strike to protest the removal of petroleum subsidy will proceed as planned.

Our reports gathered that the unions, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), spoke after a meeting with government representatives at the presidential villa on Monday.

We can also confirm that the meeting will continue on Tuesday to see out a possible to bring sucour and alleviate suffering brought on the people with this subsidy removal with immediate and short term solutions.

The strike is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

The unions expressed doubt regarding the ability of President Bola Tinubu to effectively control inflation and gasoline prices due to the unification of the exchange rate.
