Amid circulating social media claims suggesting that the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, is flaunting a newly acquired private residence, the Oyo touchbearer forum have described the reports as “unfounded distractions” aimed at diverting attention from his ongoing work in the power sector.
The alleged controversy, which surfaced online earlier this week, has been widely criticized by stakeholders and supporters who insist the narrative is both misleading and politically motivated.
According to the Oyo touchbearer forum Spokesperson Mikail Ajibola, she stated that Chief Adelabu remains “firmly committed” to his national duty and youth development Initiative, he has continued to lead key power sector reforms in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ajibola also stated that “While some detractors choose to focus on private matters, the Honourable Minister is more concerned about delivering stable electricity to Nigerians,”. “The house being referenced is a private, long-planned investment and has nothing to do with public funds or his current office.”Ajibola stated.
Political observers have also urged the public to focus on the performance and policies of public officers rather than “unnecessary sensationalism.”
With several rural electrification projects and transmission upgrades already underway under his watch, the Minister has maintained a low public profile, engaging more with technical partners and federal agencies.
Ajibola also stressed that “as public service scrutiny continues to grow, Adelabu is undistracted by the noise and remains focused on measurable results in Nigeria’s energy delivery system”.
