Oyo: NOA Organises Sensitisation Road Show in Ibadan, Enlightens Communities on Flood Mitigation, Govt Policies

In furtherance of the ongoing sensitisation and mobilization campaign on government policies, programs and activities, the Oyo State chapter of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) organised a road show/rally as an enlightenment campaign on the five thematic areas of values reorientation for students of secondary and tertiary Institutions against sign out extreme practices, flood mitigation, national security awareness, Nigerian identity and national symbol, and enlightenment on government policies, programs and activities.

The one day rally served as a medium to further sensitise the people on the road, market places and residents on the various government policies and programs.

The road show took place from the office of the NOA in Agodi through Bustop-Gate to Oje and Yemetu axis of Oyo State. It was indeed a true representation of the sensitization and mobilization process, a key mandate of the national agency which had people getting a one on one engagement and knowledge on the many ongoing government policies and programs.

During an interview session at Oje market of Ibadan, Mrs Olufunke Salako, the Zonal Director of NOA shed light on the essence of the road show which according to her is aimed to sensitise on the five thematic areas of government programs. She also highlighted other government intervention programs which have helped to reduce hardship of the economy.

“Other major interventions by the federal government includes the Nelfund loan scheme which grants all students the opportunity to be educated with a loan structure that will see the federal government pay for school fees and monthly stipend as long as you have your admission credentials to apply for the loan.” Mrs Salako said.

“We also found out that some people are not aware of the availability of these programs, so coming out in the market and preaching to the audience here and around is going to let people know that this kind of thing is available and they need to take advantage of them. These details can be gotten from our website and also our NOA offices.” She added.

The NOA Director, Mrs Ajolayo Sinmiat Akande also explained that the road show/rally has been very impactful as expected that many engagement and sensitization have been carried out with one on one interactions with people on the road, markets and various homes.

“The road show has been very impactful with the public getting better sensitized on key issues bothering on value reorientation against students sign out extreme practices, security awareness, flood management and government programs.” Mrs Ajolayo Akande stated.

“There are other government policies that are very beneficial to the public like Students Loans scheme which has been very instrumental with many students now enjoying the full benefits. It is also important for residents and families to also be aware of the dangers of flooding, with proper sensitization of flood mitigation and illegal dumping of refuse.” The Oyo NOA Director concluded.
