The Oyo State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs Ajolayo Sinmiat Akande has joined the world to celebrate the 2025 World Population Day, calling on all citizens in the country to take pride in having one of the largest generation of youth in the world and leveraging on that to pave a golden path for excellence in respective endeavors.
Mrs Ajolayo Akande made this statement on Friday during the celebration of the World Population Day at the Oyo State office centered on the theme “Empowering Youth to Build the Families They Want”, where she highlighted the need to plan for the rainy days, equip the youth to face future challenges and fit into system to compete favourably with their mates world over as well as shunning social vices and embrace ethical values that can make them useful to nation-building.
“The theme of this year’s world population day is very apt. An untrained child is a timing bomb that can explode at any time. Our pride is having one of the largest-ever generation of young people in the world, and we should leverage on that to produce the word best in all enterprises.
“Population bloom in any country is never being used to earn a trophy but if rightfully channelled, it can impact the nation’s development and economic growth” Mrs Ajolayo stated.
The Oyo NOA boss also stressed that “At a time like this, we should be more concerned with population related issues of equal opportunities for all, human rights to generate rights and choices for our youths, family planning for better future reproductive health, using population as a tool for poverty eradication etc” she added.
She further advised the citizens to give equal access to their wards and children in their educational pursuits, irrespective of gender and for a balanced development.
