President Bola Tinubu has congratulated African champions D’Tigress after clinching the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title for the fourth consecutive time.
Following their victory at the just-concluded tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, D’Tigress arrived Abuja on Sunday and where they were given a heroic welcome.
The four-time African champions arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and they were received by officials of the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development. Rena Wakama’s team were hosted to a light reception by the ministry.
President Tinubu sent in his congratulatory message via Twitter. He wrote
“I congratulate our very own D’Tigress for a well deserved fourth consecutive AfroBasket Women Championship. We are proud of you,”
D’Tigress on Saturday beat fierce rivals Senegal 84-74 in a thrilling final to emerge champions of Africa for the fourth consecutive time.
