Cubana Chief Priest, EFCC to Reach Out-of-Court Settlement on Allegations of Naira Abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Cubana Chief Priest, who was alleged of Naira abuse, have agreed to reach an out-of-court settlement, according to reports reaching us from the defendant’s counsel.

Representing the defendant, Chikaosolu SAN informed Justice Kehinde Ogundare that they have reached an agreement with the EFCC to resolve the matter outside of court. In the spirit of reconciliation, they have decided to withdraw the initial objection notice to facilitate further discussions for a settlement.

The defendant’s counsel emphasized that after reviewing the evidence, they are guided by Section 14(2) of the EFCC establishment act, which authorizes them to combine offenses for the sake of justice

Representing the prosecution, Bilikisu Buhari verified that the defense’s application has been received and is currently under review.

The defendant’s counsel proposed June 5th as the date for the settlement report to be submitted, pending court approval. Justice Kehinde Oguns agreed to schedule the hearing for the settlement report.
