Ibadan Explosion: Issa-Onilu Visits Emergency Hub, Commends State Govt for Proactive Strides

As part of the activities of the Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General NOA in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, he visited the epicentre of the explosion that struck parts of Ibadan city on the 16th January, 2024 and the emergency hub set up by government to assist victims cope with the tragedy.

Mallam Onilu used the opportunity to condole with the Oyo State Governor His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde as well as commend the State Government efforts at rehabilitating the victims.

Accompanied by a team from National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), NOA Oyo state Directorate staff, and the Red Cross Society, he inspected the heavily guarded neighbourhood.

Faced with the impact of the destruction and the agony of some of the victims, the DG appealed for patience as government works out the remedies planned over the incident.

He urged victims to take advantage of the emergency hub to register their complaints and get the socio psychological support required to cope with the trauma. He also asked Nigerians to learn the appropriate lessons which is to provide information to security agencies saying that part of the duty of citizens is to support security agencies by providing relevant information.

Other stakeholders at the emergency hub includes, NEMA, OYO SEMA, Red Cross, Civil Defense, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Environment, DSS, Nigeria Army, Police Force, and the Landlord Association.

The DG used the opportunity to condole with families of the deceased appealing to them not to lose hope.
