Monday Reflections: As Mr. Governor Remains the Lone Voice in the Wilderness, Pray for God’s Intervention || Aderemi Ogundele

One thing I have noticed in the recent time is that GSM seems to be the only one left in his side on this struggle. He has lost the public sympathy, and by extension that of his party too, a long time ago. The officials of his government are only playing along. They have no option but to do his bidding as long as they want to sustain their bread and butter. The Bible says, you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Now, he remains the only one doing the singing and possibly having the understanding of his infamous and unpopular lyrics. He is singing and no one seems to be chorusing along with him. A lone ranger in the wilderness, he is.

It is disheartening that the person that ought to be the custodian of justice, fairness and equity has become the albatross of the rule of law. He has been talking alone, acting alone and behaving somehow funny in the eyes of the public. “Alaseju”. It is quite unfortunate.

Each time I cast my mind at the issue of how Governor Seyi Makinde has been flagrantly disobeying the judgement of the Supreme Court that found him guilty of illegal dissolution of the Local Government Councils in 2019, and the way and manner he has been posturing and treating the matter, I do resolve in my mind that some people are just created to be difficult.

While listening again to the recorded audio of the radio interview he granted a couple of weeks ago, I heard him referring to the sacked Local Government Chairpersons as “jankara people”. This is one of the most ridiculous and derogatory statements that actually came from His Excellency in the recent past.

Badmouthing elected officials like yourself for no just cause is an action that will surely reverberate now or in the near future. “Asunkunsi fi pamo ni, ti o ba wa nikun, a wa ni kelebe”

I foresee the Supreme Court judges giving it back to His Excellency in good measure, filled to the brim and pouring down. “Dada o le ja, sugbon o ni aburo to gboju” They have done it before, and I’m sure they will do it again. The judges on several occasions have been lampooning him for being a certificated lawbreaker.

They will definitely make a mince meat of Mr Governor very soon. One may not be surprised if they refer to His Excellency as a “Jankariwo Governor” in the nearest future. The English meaning of Jankariwo is cobwebs.

In American slang, cobwebs connote confusion, indistinct, or lack of order. For those that have been following the trends since 2019, they will understand that the people dealing with this issue of the illegal dissolution of the Local Government Councils on the side of the government have undoubtedly been cobwebbed.

Starting from the then Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka that made the inglorious announcement of the dissolution, to the State House of Assembly that goofed at a point in time, down to the legal team that has been losing consistently in the courts. They have not only been cobwebbed, but also caught in the web of their dead conscience.

Also in the spiritual realm in this part of the world, cobwebs are used by the forces of darkness especially witches and wizards to enslave the glory, success, blessings and spiritual lives of individuals. Anybody can be possessed no matter his position in the society. There may be more to this inexplicable stubbornness of His Excellency on this issue than meet the eyes.

Therefore, people being affected must wake up from their slumber and pray. Direct your prayers to the Most High God in order to subdue the giant and the lone ranger in the wilderness. He must hearken, bow and obey the superior voice of the Almighty God.

Let your prayer points include but not limited to, “my portion no one shall take”. Pray to God to cut any hands working against your entitlements from getting to you on time. Invoke the holy ghost fire to consume any individuals or groups constituting themselves into cobwebs and preventing you from getting what you legitimately deserve from the government of Oyo State.

Pray, pray and go for firebrand prayers. Not all wars are physical, social or political. Some are definitely spiritual. The Bible says: “The Kingdom of Heaven Suffereth Violence and the Violent taketh it by Force” (Matthew 11:12). Direct your prayers to the lone ranger in the wilderness that he will experience the mighty hand of God in the way the Goliath did in the hands of David if he fails to surrender. And that you will have every cause to rejoice and sing the song that says: “the Egyptians you see today, you shall see no more”.

To be called a jankara person is even far better and more honourable than constituting oneself into jankariwo in the lives of others. This is the time to commit this Jankariwo battle into the hands of the Mighty Warrior, so that the Supreme Being of the universe shall extend the treatment of Pharaoh to whoever that deserves it in this struggle without hesitation. “Eniti Olorun ko le mu, Olorun koi ti da”

Finally, the good news is that the judicial war is going on in the court unabated. At the end of the tunnel, there is a ray of light. The court is unstoppable at doing justice on the issue at stake no matter whose ox is gored. They are alive to their responsibilities doing so without any fear or favor.

Reports from Abuja had it that the Federal High Court that issued the garnishee order on the 15 December, 2023 sat again on Friday 5 January, 2024 and refused to lift the embargo placed on the Ten Bank Accounts of the Oyo State Government. Those accounts are still under lock and key. They are inaccessible to the “Janjaweed”. This is a cheering news.

Let His Excellency continue to place his false hope and unrealistic consolation on the appeal pending at the Supreme Court. The appeal will fail as usual. Consequently, the lone voice in the wilderness will kiss the dust and have the tail tucked firmly between his legs. Then we will now have the cause to say to him, “a wi fun ni ka to dani, agba ijakadi”.
