Multichoice Nigeria Contests CCPT Decision to Prevent DSTV, GOTV from Increasing Price

Multichoice Nigeria contests the tribunal’s authority to prevent DSTV and GOTV from increasing prices and other actions.

Multichoice’s legal representative, M.J. Onibanjo (SAN), communicated to the Competition and Consumer Petition Tribunal (CCPT) in an application on Tuesday requesting that they refrain from exercising jurisdiction over the lawsuit brought by Festus Onifade. This is based on the fact that a similar pricing dispute case had previously been resolved in favor of Multichoice.

In the presented motion, Onibanjo contended that although Onifade aims to oversee pricing for services offered by Multichoice, the Tribunal, as distinct from the President of Nigeria, does not possess the authority to manage pricing of products and services under the FCCPA 2018.
