NLC Reacts Over FG’s Failure to Honour Agreement of Paying Wage Award

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is to address a World Press Conference today following the failure of the Federal Government to fulfill its part of the agreement signed with the organised labour on steps to ameliorate the plights of workers following the subsidy removal.

In a media invitation released to newsmen in Abuja, the Congress notes that the Federal Government has not felt the pains Nigerians are going through amidst the constant fall in the value of the nation’s currency and the skyrocketing prices of basic goods and services.

As part of industrial negotiations to address the hardship confronting workers following the subsidy removal, the Federal Government and the leadership of the organised labour deliberated, agreed and signed an MoU.

Part of the MoU is the payment of a wage award of N35,000 to workers beginning from September, 2023 till the time the new national minimum wage comes into effect next year.

The Federal Government has however, not paid the wage award at the end of October as agreed in the MoU.
