Ogun: Sagamu Town Gets Own Siemens 60MVA Mega Transformer, New Power Control Room

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Power led by Adebayo Adelabu has recently energized a 60MVA Mega Transformer in Sagamu town and has also accompanied it with a new electricity Control Room for its smooth running.

The 60MVA Mega Transformer is a benefit of the electricity deal between the Nigerian authorities and Siemens Energy AG of Germany. Consequently, the bulk electricity supply in Sagamu, which stretches to the Osogbo Substation has now been considerably improved.

The electricity deal is aimed at culminating the delivery of an additional 2,000MW, two million new connections to the national grid, training of over 5,000 engineers to operate the system network, and improved electricity access to millions of Nigerians.

It will also include addressing major constraints in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) through deployment of power transformers and mobile substations across the country.

The Nigeria-Siemens PPI initiative will targets expanding the capacity of transmission and distribution systems to enable evacuation of up to 11,000 MW of electricity to consumers, and subsequently targets expanding the power grid to 25,000MW capacity, through further expansion of generation, transmission, and distribution systems.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, Siemens A.G and Siemens Energy have remained unswerving in their commitment to the project.
