The Oyo State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Olukemi Afolayan on Thursday led the funeral ceremony of the late former State Director of NOA, Chief Remi Omowon who passed on on the 8th of March, 2024.
The lying-in-state ceremony which took place at the Oyo State NOA Office in Agodi, Ibadan also included condolence messages signing and farewell speeches from family, NOA Staff and former state directors including Pastor Kayode Odedokun.
Dr Afolayan described late Chief Omowon as a dedicated and highly patriotic Nigerian who left an indelible mark on the agency and the lives of his colleagues and subordinates.
She highlighted his huge impact in the NOA being a staunch advocator for using theatre for development as a means of social mobilization, a grassroot mobilizer per excellence”, the Director extolled.
Her words “Chief Omowon was a mentor to many of us, we learnt so much from him and he took us through the rudiment of civil service. He was also a dedicated and highly patriotic Nigerian. Hence, we are gathered here to celebrate his lifetime and we joined his family to grant him a rousing farewell.
“In the NOA, Dr Omowon left an indelible impact with his staunch advocacy for using theatre for development as a mean for social mobilization. He was also a strong grassroot mobilizer who believes the theatre was an effective way to champion campaigns to the grassroots”
Dr Aderemi Omowon who is one of the sons to the late former Director also described his father as a patriot and seasoned administration, a principled, loving and responsible dad who has been able to groom his workforce and the entire people he comes across in his service successfully.
He added, “My father was a patriot and a seasoned administrator who is very principled and disciplined in his work, who has successfully groomed many people in his workforce and he has made himself quite outstanding in many places he found himself, that’s why this befitting lying in state is considered worthwhile and we appreciate it.
Dr Omowon also showed eulogy on his late father as a loving father who showed care and support to his children and everyone around him”
