One of the notable chieftains of All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Ona Ara local government area of Oyo State, Hon. Olufemi Adebayo (ARAOLUWA), has expressed strongly his disappointment on the conduct of the electoral exercise which was marred with various electoral malpractices and the eventual outcome of the local government election that was held in Oyo State on 27th April, 2024.
While addressing newsmen earlier this morning, Adebayo expressed his disappointments that it is highly degrading, disgraceful and embarrassing that the state electoral umpire, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) couldn’t conduct a free and fair election in 2024.
‘Sadly, OYSIEC conducted a very shameful electoral exercise as there were shortages of electoral materials, cases of late arrivals of electoral officials and marred with other irregularities.’ Adebayo alleged.
He however encouraged APC contestant and the public not to lose hope in our democracy and appreciate all party faithful for coming out en masse to exercise their franchise in the face of threats from members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
‘I congratulate all APC contestants for putting up such a great fight. What is evident is that our contestants are people’s choice and the election is a great testament to the fact that APC is fully on ground and ready to claim back the state come 2027.’ Adebayo said.
‘I urge all APC party loyalists to be calm while we wait for our leaders to give us the next line of action.’ He noted.
