The APC Councillorship candidate from Ward 11 in Ona-Ara Local Government of Oyo State, Hon Fakayode Tawakalitu Jumoke has fully opened up on how the PDP councilorship candidate in her ward, Muritala Tijani Alago led a group of thugs to some polling units to disrupt voting process and add external thumprinted voting papers to some of the voting boxes in her ward.
In a short audio interview sent to our reporter, Hon Fakayode Tawakalitu Jumoke narrated the incident that transpired during the voting process and the gruesome act of the PDP councilorship candidate and cronies in her ward which resulted to a lot of electorates getting seriously injured while running for their lives amid gunshots and cutlass scare.
Hon Fakayode Jumoke narrated how well she prepared for the election with a far more impressive campaign and general acceptance in her ward than her competitors, she explained how the election process started peacefully and well coordinated through the polling units until the PDP councilorship candidate, Muritala Tijani Alago led some thugs to Ologunojule at around 1pm on Saturday to beat the APC party agents and chase them away with gunshots and cutlasses.
“On Saturday, the local government election process was going on peacefully in all the wards until around after 1pm when the men of the underworld began their satanic acts led by the PDP councilorship candidate himself, Mr Muritala Tijani Alago with sporadic gunshots and sights of broken bottles flying in the air aimed at the electorates in a bid to disrupt the election process especially at Ologunojule (Unit 2), Idi-Oro (Unit 3), Olororo (Unit 8), Omowunmi (Unit 9) and Okiki-Ade (Unit 17).” Hon. Jumoke narrated.
“At Unit 2, for example after they had chased off the people who came to vote with guns and cutlasses, they now used the opportunity to add some external or foreign thumprinted ballot papers to the original papers in the ballot boxes.” she added.
According to Hon Jumoke, the APC Councillorship results for 12 units that were successfully counted saw the APC lead the PDP with 94 votes.
“Out of the 17 polling units in our ward, the OYSIEC staff were able to count 12 units and the APC were successful winners with 94 votes. We have the signed and stamped EC forms to back these claims.
“This is also a testament that we also led in the other five polling units that were disrupted, as one of the reasons the PDP came to disturb the voting process in those units was because we were already leading there too.” she explained.
“People don’t know Muritala Alago in ward 11, he wants to ride on the PDP reputation to win the Councillorship. The only voice in people’s mouth in ward 11 is ‘we want Jumoke as Councillor”. she said.
She then used the opportunity to plead with the public and independent groups to support her to reclaim her mandate as the truly elected Councillor of Ward 11 in Ona-Ara Local Government.
“They have seen that I’m a woman and probably incapable of getting back my mandate as the legitimate winner of Ward 11 election in Ona-Ara Local Government. Their goal is to steal my mandate and further trample on our nascent democracy. I hence plead on all support groups to come in solidarity and aid so as to reclaim my stolen mandate.” Hon Jumoke concluded.
